HEPPS (EPPS, 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazinepropanesulfonic acid) is a Good's zwitterionic buffer with a pKa of about 8.0 at 25 °C and a useful buffering range of roughly pH 7.3–8.7. It is used in cell culture, enzyme assays and as a reaction buffer for isobaric labeling such as TMT in mass spectrometry.
