Carbenicillin disodium is a semi-synthetic β-lactam antibiotic that is more stable than ampicillin toward β-lactamase and acidic conditions. It replaces ampicillin for selecting bla-resistant plasmids (typically 50–100 µg/mL) with fewer satellite colonies, and is used to suppress Agrobacterium after plant transformation.
