V8 protease (endoproteinase Glu-C) is a serine protease from Staphylococcus aureus strain V8. In ammonium bicarbonate or ammonium acetate buffers it cleaves mainly C-terminal to glutamate, and in phosphate buffer also after aspartate. It is used for proteomics digestion and peptide mapping.
