Which DMSO grade for freezing cells

Name the grade before the concentration. Cell-culture grade and industrial solvent grade are not the same bottle.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO, CAS 67-68-5) is both a polar aprotic solvent and a common cryoprotectant. Laboratories often mix it into medium at about 5–10% before freezing. Catch-Chem quotes the DMSO raw material. Cell-culture sterile grade, molecular-biology grade and industrial solvent grade differ in impurities, sterility and endotoxin, so the inquiry has to name the grade. Glycerol grades are listed separately.
